Part-Time Hebrew and Jewish Studies Teacher
Temple Beth El is seeking dedicated and knowledgeable Part-Time Hebrew and Judaica Studies Teachers to join our religious school team. These roles involve teaching students in a warm, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that reflects the values and practices of Conservative Judaism.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Hebrew Teachers:
- Teach basic to intermediate Hebrew reading skills, including decoding, prayer fluency, and vocabulary.
- Judaica Teachers:
- Deliver Jewish studies lessons covering topics such as Torah, holidays, mitzvot, Israel, Jewish history, and ethics.
- All Teachers:
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and spiritual growth and learning.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with the curriculum and the synagogue’s mission.
- Communicate effectively with the Education Director, parents, clergy, and other staff to support student progress.
- Participate in school events, family education and Shabbat programs, and holiday celebrations.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Hebrew and Jewish studies to children in a religious school setting.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and respectful learning space for diverse learners.
Position Type: Part-Time, Academic Year
This position typically requires 6-8 hours per week, with classes held on Sunday mornings from 9am-12pm and Wednesdays from 4-6pm with additional hours for staff meetings and Shabbat and Holiday programming.
